Head of Consumer & SMB Platform Delivery

Position Summary

The Head of Consumer & SMB Platform Delivery is responsible for leading the technology strategy, platform roadmap, and execution of customer-facing Consumer and Small Business banking platforms. This leader serves as the primary technology partner to the business, translating strategic objectives into technology delivery while ensuring digital banking experiences continue to evolve, scale, and deliver measurable business value.

This role is not responsible for defining product strategy or customer experience. Instead, it is accountable for delivering those experiences through technology by leading platform strategy, vendor relationships, modernization initiatives, and execution across multiple customer-facing banking platforms.

The successful candidate will oversee a team of technology platform leaders while directing multiple third-party technology partners responsible for delivering digital banking, lending, relationship pricing, and account origination platforms. This individual will be responsible for developing the long-term technology roadmap, driving platform modernization, simplifying the technology landscape, and ensuring reliable execution of strategic initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Platform Roadmap

  • Develop and execute the long-term technology roadmap supporting Consumer and Small Business Banking platforms.
  • Drive platform modernization, consolidation, and technology simplification initiatives across digital banking, lending, and account origination ecosystems.
  • Evaluate build-versus-buy opportunities and develop long-term platform investment strategies.
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams to ensure technology decisions align with the organization's long-term strategic direction.

Technology Delivery Leadership

  • Translate business objectives into executable technology initiatives and delivery roadmaps.
  • Lead the successful delivery of customer-facing technology enhancements while balancing business priorities, technical complexity, risk, and operational stability.
  • Ensure technology platforms remain scalable, reliable, secure, and capable of supporting future business growth.
  • Establish strong governance, operating models, and delivery processes across the organization.

Platform & Vendor Management

  • Provide executive oversight for Digital Banking, Consumer Lending, Small Business Banking, Deposit Account Origination, and Relationship Pricing platforms.
  • Lead strategic relationships with third-party platform providers and outsourced development organizations.
  • Hold technology vendors accountable for execution, quality, delivery timelines, platform reliability, and service delivery.
  • Manage significant technology investments and vendor budgets while ensuring maximum value from strategic partnerships.

Business Partnership

  • Serve as the primary technology partner to business leadership.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding platform capabilities, implementation options, and delivery tradeoffs.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Consumer Banking, Risk, Compliance, Information Security, Architecture, Engineering, Data, and Operations teams to successfully deliver business initiatives.
  • Help shape technology strategy by providing insight into platform capabilities and emerging technologies.

Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Product Delivery Managers and Platform Leaders.
  • Foster a culture focused on execution, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build an effective operating model capable of supporting a rapidly evolving Consumer Banking organization.
  • Drive organizational maturity through clear governance, prioritization, and execution discipline.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience overseeing customer-facing banking technology platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technology delivery organizations within consumer banking, digital banking, lending, or financial services.
  • Proven success managing complex technology portfolios consisting of both internal teams and third-party delivery partners.
  • Experience developing multi-year technology roadmaps, modernization strategies, and platform transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale vendor relationships and outsourced technology delivery organizations.
  • Experience managing significant technology budgets and platform investments.

Technical & Leadership Skills

  • Strong understanding of digital banking platforms, consumer lending technologies, online account origination, relationship pricing platforms, and customer-facing banking ecosystems.
  • Ability to translate business strategy into technology execution while balancing delivery, risk, and operational priorities.
  • Experience leading platform modernization, technology consolidation, and build-versus-buy evaluations.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence business and technology leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build high-performing organizations and establish effective operating models.
  • Deep understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and technology governance.

AI & Emerging Technologies

  • Understanding of how Artificial Intelligence can enhance customer experiences across digital banking platforms.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing AI-enabled capabilities such as personalization, intelligent recommendations, predictive customer engagement, intelligent automation, or digital customer experiences.
  • Hands-on AI development experience is not required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Executive leadership experience within consumer banking or retail banking technology organizations.
  • Experience supporting Digital Banking, Deposit Origination, Consumer Lending, Small Business Banking, or Relationship Pricing platforms.
  • Experience with third-party banking platforms such as Zafin or similar relationship pricing solutions.
  • Experience leading enterprise platform modernization and vendor transformation initiatives.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
