Head Coach, Men''s Baseball

Johnson University's Athletics Department is seeking a Head Baseball Coach. This coach manages the Johnson University Baseball program in a manner that reflects the values and mission of the department and University, serving as a role model and mentor to the student-athletes to reinforce the highest standards of conduct. The position requires supervision of assistant coaches and recruiting activities in addition to the execution of the JU athletic strategic plan. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exemplify and teach sound spiritual growth alongside of athletic development.
  • Encourage, facilitate, and monitor academic progress of the team and individual student-athletes.
  • Mentor and disciple players through life, academic, and athletic challenges.
  • Evaluate and recruit quality student-athletes who align with the mission of Johnson.
  • Supervise assistant coaches, including hiring, training, and evaluating assistant and student workers.
  • Plan, schedule, supervise practices and games
  • Develop and grow the skills of players through effective coaching.
  • Manage baseball budget and report expenses in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate annual summer camps, recruitment trips, and on-campus recruitment events.
  • Communicate and collaborate with departments across campus to ensure student-athlete success.
  • Participate in fundraising events.
  • Off-season game management for other sports as determined by the AD
  • Management and care of baseball field and baseball-related equipment
  • Management and reporting of sports information content, social media, and statistics.
  • Conform with University and NAIA policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • One to three years of previous experience coaching at the collegiate or high school level.
  • Ability to work evening and weekends and travel as required.
  • Knowledge and skill to evaluate and assess student-athletes' skills and abilities.
  • Ability to maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a strong commitment to student-athlete success.
  • Must have exemplary ethical conduct and a commitment to follow all applicable NAIA and Appalachian Athletic Conference rules and regulations.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative effort to maintain the mission, vision and objectives of the athletics department.
