Job Description
Under the direction of the Pool Supervisor or Recreation Director, the Lifeguard is responsible for teaching swimming lessons for all age groups. The Lifeguard ensures the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. They eliminate hazards and hazardous behavior in and around the facility to prevent accidents. Additionally, they monitor locker rooms, weight and steam rooms.
The Lifeguard performs a variety of miscellaneous duties, including: • Answering incoming calls • Picking up supplies • Selling tickets • Collecting fees • Helping set up for various activities, classes, and events • Doing whatever is needed
The Lifeguard responds to public inquiries about aquatics programs made by telephone, correspondence, or during public meetings. They assist and/or monitor other recreational activities at the swimming pool and any other recreation facility. The Lifeguard maintains related records and statistics for various aquatics programs.
The Lifeguard assists in the maintenance of the swimming pool, including opening and closing the facility as needed. They perform water tests for correct water chemistry and monitor and maintain the pool filtration system, adjusting water chemistry as needed to maintain standards under the direction of a proper lead or supervisory person.
The Lifeguard will perform duties as a leader for other lifeguards and temporary employees. They will also perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Information
Starting Hourly Pay: $12.53 per hour
Minimum Required Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent • American Red Cross Lifeguard Training • CPR for Professional Rescuers • AED First Aid Certifications • Water Safety Instructor Certification • Two years of on-the-job lifeguarding experience • Valid Drivers License • Must meet Citys insurability requirements
