Qualifications and

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree preferred; Valid New Mexico PED Teacher License required with endorsement subject or level of assignments.
  • Valid New Mexico Coaching licensure or eligibility. Attain NMAA Coaching Certifications.
  • Five (5) years' experience coaching competitive football at the high school level - one (1) year at a coordinator level position or above.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state and NMAA policies governing athletics.
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of overall operations of an athletic program, including the ability to negotiate with athletic directors and coaches from other school districts regarding play-off games.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, communication, management, public relations, leadership, time management, mentoring, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the rules of the sport of football, game management, and player development.
  • Must demonstrate willingness to work in a cooperative working environment.
  • Strong reading, written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • CDL Preferred, or willing to obtain

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise football program activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship
  • Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis; monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation
  • Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Accompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of-town trips
  • Instruct and advise students on NMAA rule with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices
  • Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook, and encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers
  • Maintain a current inventory of all fixed assets within program; oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing campus athletic equipment
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position

  • Required to lift or carry classroom supplies, textbooks, furniture, and equipment to a minimum of 35 pounds;
  • Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion;
  • Required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak on a daily basis;
  • Required to perform repetitive physical tasks such as computer keyboarding, writing, and reading;
  • Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, inclement weather;
  • Sitting, walking, running, standing are a regular requirement;
  • Flexibility of bending and twisting at the neck and truck are a regular requirement;
  • Occasional travel in school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students may be required.
