The Head Cook is responsible for leading the daily operation of the Keshena Primary School kitchen by preparing and serving nutritious, appealing, and safe meals that meet all USDA, DPI, and Menominee Indian School District requirements. This position provides leadership to kitchen staff, maintains compliance with food safety regulations, oversees inventory and ordering, and ensures students receive high-quality meals in a clean, welcoming environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve nutritious, high-quality breakfast, lunch, snacks, and special meals in accordance with USDA, Wisconsin DPI, and Menominee Indian School District requirements.
Prepare food using standardized recipes while ensuring proper portion sizes and meal quality.
Supervise and coordinate the daily work of kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal preparation and service.
Ensure all food is prepared, held, and served in compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
Maintain accurate food production records, temperature logs, sanitation records, inventory documentation, and other required reports.
Receive, inspect, store, label, and rotate food and supplies using proper food safety procedures.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering food, supplies, and kitchen materials as assigned.
Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of kitchen equipment, workstations, serving areas, storage areas, and dining facilities.
Monitor and maintain commercial kitchen equipment, reporting maintenance or repair needs promptly.
Accommodate students with approved food allergies and special dietary needs in accordance with district procedures.
Maintain confidentiality regarding student dietary information and other confidential records.
Provide courteous and professional customer service to students, staff, parents, and visitors.
Assist with training kitchen staff on food preparation, sanitation, safety procedures, and district expectations.
Participate in required professional development and maintain ServSafe certification.
Promote a positive, safe, and collaborative work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
