Position Summary: Coyle Public Schools is seeking a motivated and student-centered Head Baseball Coach to lead and grow both the High School and Junior High baseball programs. The ideal candidate will build a unified program rooted in fundamentals, competitiveness, and character while fostering strong relationships with students, families, and the community. This position plays a key role in developing student-athletes from grades 7-12 and contributing to the overall success of Coyle athletics.
Essential Job Functions - (Majority of duties performed, but not meant to be all inclusive nor prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary):
Provide leadership and direction for all aspects of the High School and Junior High baseball programs
Develop and implement a vertically aligned program (grades 7-12) focused on skill progression and team culture
Plan and conduct organized, effective practices and game preparation
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant and volunteer coaches
Promote academic success and monitor student-athlete eligibility
Model and enforce positive sportsmanship, discipline, and character
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administration
Coordinate scheduling, travel, and program logistics with the Athletic Director
Organize offseason programs, including camps, open fields, and strength/conditioning opportunities
Maintain and oversee softball facilities and equipment
Support and collaborate with other athletic programs and school initiatives
Assist with fundraising and help build strong community and booster club support
Ensure compliance with all OSSAA rules and district policies
Required Qualifications Previous baseball coaching experience preferred (head coaching experience strongly preferred)
Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, player development, and game strategy
Ability to build, organize, and sustain a competitive program
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Commitment to developing the whole student-athletically, academically, and personally
Must meet all OSSAA coaching requirements
Teaching certification preferred; adjunct (non-teaching) candidates will be considered
