Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Hazardous Material Coordinator on behalf of our client, a Pittsburgh area Chemical Company.   The Hazardous Material Coordinator will move, manage, and distribute materials, product, and/or waste into, out of, and within the facility while adhering to all regulatory requirements and company policies, procedures, and practices. Ensure accurate material, product, and waste information is collected, documented, and recorded into inventory and/or waste management databases in a timely manner. Efficiently organize all storage areas.

Responsibilities:
  • Load and unload shipments into and out of trucks.
  • Perform receiving activities for chemicals, including comparing materials to purchase orders, ensuring an SDS is available for all inbound chemicals, labeling containers appropriately, making correct transactions into the inventory database, submitting transporter paperwork to Purchasing, and notifying the project leader and QA manager when applicable.
  • Manage materials within the facility, coordinating storage, distribution, and packaging to minimize handling. Maintain storage locations safely, efficiently, and compliantly.
  • Perform shipping activities for chemicals: prepare materials/packages for shipment, confirm proper container selection and labeling, complete shipping documents (UPS/FedEx), manifests, land bans, bills of lading, placarding, and perform cycle counts.
  • Maintain facility security by keeping gates and doors closed/locked when not in use.
  • Promote and support company safety, security, and quality initiatives.


Requirements:
  • Maintain required training and certifications
  • U.S. DOT Hazmat Employee (initial within 90 days; every 3 years)
  • IATA Dangerous Goods (initial within 6 months; every 2 years)
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Management (initial within 6 months; annual thereafter)
  • Obtain and maintain PCC training requirements for Group I.D. 4 (Shipping), including 120 hours of on-the-job training within the first 90 days.
  • Understand and follow PCCMS quality procedures.
  • Accurately document inventory of materials, products, and wastes.
  • Operate material-handling equipment: forklifts, pallet jacks, drum carts, dollies, etc.
  • Stage raw materials as directed.
  • Inspect and maintain all storage areas in a neat, orderly, and compliant manner; document inspections as required.
  • Learn and use computer-based programs as needed.
  • Measure and weigh materials accurately.
  • Occasionally lift up to 65 pounds.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Work flexible hours as required.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

ualifications and Education:
  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Adequate eyesight to operate a forklift and read regulations, instructions, labels, scales, tape measures, and other tools.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 65 pounds.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
 
Preferred Skills:
  • RCRA Hazardous Waste Management certification
  • USDOT Hazardous Materials Transportation certification
  • ATA (IATA) certification
  • IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) knowledge
  • Fork truck certifications
