Summary:
The Hardware Systems Engineer is responsible for integrating Sentera sensors and hardware onto unmanned aerial systems (UAS) platforms. This role requires expertise in systems engineering practices, mechanical design, UAS instrumentation, hardware testing and validation, along with exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and dedication to user success. The individual will support integration schedule planning and execution, mechanical design, and hardware product validation and testing. Additional responsibilities include flight testing, creating internal and external product documentation, and providing level 2 engineering support.

Responsibilities

Mechanical design of components related to Sentera sensors and hardware.
Planning and execution of Sentera sensor and hardware integrations for new UAS platforms.
Maintenance of existing Sentera sensor integrations.
UAS flight testing.
Wire harness design, fabrication, and documentation.
Creation and maintenance of internal engineering and production documentation.
Creation and maintenance of user-facing documentation.
Level 2 engineering support.
Hardware and software compatibility testing of Sentera sensors, UAS platforms, and third-party post-processing software.
Creation and maintenance of engineering drawings and bill of materials.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
Proficient in CAD with a minimum of 1 year experience, PTC Creo preferred.
FAA Part 107 certification acquired within three months of employment.
Experience with UAS (drones) platforms is preferred.
Experience with Pixhawk autopilots (PX4 & Ardupilot).
Experience with MAVlink is preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Ability to interpret requirements independently.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Highly motivated.
Ability to work constructively within a team.
Exceptional communication skills.

Desired Skills

Facilitate change management regarding documentation between engineering and production staff.
Serve as a point of contact between Sentera engineering teams and technology partner engineering teams.
Assist in creating product improvement and sustainment criteria.
Become a subject matter expert on Sentera sensors and hardware, their functions, and applications.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $43.91 - $43.91 /hour. Non-exempt positions are eligible for overtime at a rate of 1.5 times the base hourly rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week, or as required by state or local law. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages.
