Position Summary
The Hardware Line Associate is responsible for accurately picking, packaging, labeling, and staging hardware components to support daily production and customer order requirements. This role ensures hardware kits and boxes are assembled with the correct quantities and parts, assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels at hardware pick stations, and supports efficient material flow throughout the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Assembly & Order Fulfillment
- Responsible for the accurate picking and packaging of hardware boxes.
- Ensure accurate quantities of hardware components are assembled to complete daily work orders.
- Verify all hardware kits and boxes contain the correct parts and quantities before completion.
- Accurately identify hardware components and match parts to work order requirements.
- Ensure proper identification and labeling on the exterior of boxes, pallets, and containers.
- Maintain quality standards and accuracy throughout the hardware assembly process.
Inventory & Material Management
- Work with material handlers to keep the hardware line stocked appropriately.
- Report inventory shortages, damaged materials, or discrepancies to leadership.
- Assist with inventory counts and material verification activities as required.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Ensure hardware components and packaging meet quality standards prior to release.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Properly use hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment as required.
- Support departmental housekeeping and 5S initiatives.
- Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or quality defects promptly to leadership.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Meet daily productivity, quality, and accuracy expectations.
- Demonstrate the ability to learn and retain product and hardware knowledge.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
- Assist in training new team members as requested.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production priorities and material needs.
General Responsibilities
- Accurately enter and maintain data within computer systems as required.
- Follow verbal and written instructions related to production schedules and work orders.
- Compare and verify numbers, quantities, and part information against established standards.
- Maintain attendance and punctuality standards.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of order selection or ecommerce experience.
- Experience with box erector and box sealer machines.
- Background in training or mentoring production staff.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to learn and perform other duties within the department to meet periodic job rotation requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
Physical Requirements
- Continuously and/or frequently required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects ranging from 45 lbs. to 80 lbs. Weights over 45 lbs. require teamwork of at least 2 people.
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time (8-12 hours daily).
- Must be able to move about the manufacturing floor safely and efficiently.
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and/or ladders may be required for specific work tasks.
- Ability to perform tasks that require using hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Ability to work in loud, fast paced industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity and hand to eye coordination with hand/power tools.
- Frequent use of computer, keyboard, tablet, and/or scanner may be required for specific work tasks.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold environments.
