• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 12 months
• Pay Rate: $40.00 $45.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Monday & Friday remote; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday on-site. Full on-site weeks may be required during critical project phases. Standard hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

Job Summary

The HIL Engineer is responsible for the setup, integration, maintenance, and validation of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems used for the development and verification of power electronics, energy storage, and control systems. The engineer will work closely with controls, firmware, system, and hardware engineering teams to develop HIL models, configure test environments, automate test execution, and support product verification activities throughout the development lifecycle. This role requires hands-on experience with HIL platforms (e.g., OPAL-RT), test automation, and hardware/software integration.

Key Responsibilities

• Setup, integration, maintenance, and validation of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test systems used for the development and verification of power electronics, energy storage, and control systems
• Develop HIL models, configure test environments, automate test execution, and support product verification activities throughout the development lifecycle
• Work closely with controls, firmware, system, and hardware engineering teams

Required Skills

• Minimum 3 years of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation experience
• Hands-on experience with HIL validation
• Hands-on experience with firmware validation
• Hands-on experience with controls validation
• Hands-on experience integrating control boards with HIL systems
• Hands-on experience executing validation and testing activities
• Ability to contribute immediately to customer-facing projects
• HIL Platform Requirements: OPAL-RT (strong preference); Typhoon HIL is acceptable (candidate must demonstrate the ability to ramp up quickly); dSPACE is not acceptable candidates with only dSPACE experience are not being considered

Preferred Skills

• Power electronics experience (preferred but not mandatory)
• Basic PCB development (simple single-layer boards) is a plus but not required

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred but does not substitute for experience)

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation experience
