Hands On IT Infrastructure Leader / Director

Our client, a small manufacturer in midtown NY is looking for an experienced hands-on IT Director to support the infrastructure, with the help of an MSP and lead the strategy, delivery, and ongoing evolution of their environment. Serve as the primary technical authority within the organization and will partner closely with the managed service provider (MSP).

This role requires a strong blend of strategic thinking and hands-on technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute IT strategy aligned with business goals and growth priorities
• Provide strategic direction while ensuring decisions are practical, scalable, and cost-effective
• Lead modernization initiatives including system upgrades, standardization and process improvement
• Serve as the primary technical authority within the organization and will partner closely with the managed service provider (MSP)
• Oversee IT operations including infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and support services delivered through the MSP
• Evaluate and upgrade existing systems and tools to improve performance, reliability, and security
• Manage IT budget, vendor relationships, and technology partnerships
• Operate within a Microsoft-based environment, leveraging Microsoft technologies as the core of the enterprise ecosystem

Qualifications

• IT leadership experience in smaller (+/-100 person company)
• Strong ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution
• Experience working across infrastructure, applications, and enterprise systems
• Strong experience in Microsoft environments
• Strong understanding of working with MSPs
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, system integration, and IT operations
