Position Summary
The Gurney Transport Specialist is responsible for safely transporting patients via stretcher (gurney) to and from hospitals, facilities, and medical appointments. This role requires a high level of reliability, physical capability, and professionalism, as well as the ability to provide safe, respectful assistance to individuals with limited mobility.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients using a gurney/stretcher to and from medical appointments, discharges, and interfacility transfers
- Properly secure patients and equipment during transport
- Assist with lifting, positioning, and transferring patients using safe techniques and equipment
- Operate transport vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and company safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of vehicles and equipment
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, healthcare staff, and patients
- Complete trip logs, documentation, and required reports accurately and on time
- Provide compassionate, respectful care to all patients
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to safely lift and maneuver patients (with assistance/equipment)
- Strong attendance and reliability
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to follow directions and work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT), EMS, or patient transport
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Experience operating stretcher/gurney equipment
