As a Guest Services Officer, Museum Events, you'll play an important role in supporting museum events by creating a welcoming environment, ensuring guest safety, and protecting artwork during public programs, special events, and private functions. What You'll Do

As a Guest Services Officer, Museum Events, you will provide visitor services and security support during museum events while helping ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone on campus.

Responsibilities include:

Guest Experience
Provide exceptional customer service by greeting visitors, answering questions, and assisting guests in a courteous and professional manner throughout museum events.

Art & Facility Protection
Monitor galleries and public spaces to help prevent damage or theft of artwork and museum property while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

Situational Awareness
Remain alert to changing conditions, handle challenging situations with confidence and professionalism, and communicate concerns to supervisors when appropriate.

Post Procedures
Conduct gallery inspections, complete incident reports, perform routine safety checks, and remove or report hazards that could impact visitors or staff.

Emergency Response
Assist with emergency procedures, including evacuating visitors and staff quickly and safely when necessary.

Professional Operations
Manage multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining museum policies, confidentiality, and professional appearance standards.

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required with demonstrated reading and writing proficiency in English
  • Strong work history with excellent attendance and reliability
  • Customer service or hospitality experience preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-volume or stressful situations
  • Strong observation and situational awareness
  • Ability to communicate policies and directions clearly and respectfully
  • Sound judgment and ability to escalate concerns appropriately
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding museum security

Schedule

This is a part-time, permanent position averaging approximately 14-21 hours per week.

This position has no set schedule, and flexibility is essential. Evening and weekend availability is required to support museum events and programs.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $15.45 per hour

This is a part-time, benefits-eligible position.
