Job Summary

As a member of the Room Service team, delivers high-quality, patient-specific meals in a timely and service-focused environment.

Ensures accurate meal preparation and delivery while providing excellent customer service to patients, guests, and staff, in compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards.


 

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver accurate, high-quality patient meals within established service timeframes
  • Participate in hot and cold food production to support restaurant-style room service operations
  • Verify tray accuracy against diet orders and patient selections; resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Deliver and retrieve meal trays according to departmental standards and timelines
  • Respond to patient requests and service concerns, escalating issues when needed
  • Provide nourishments to patients and maintain stocked nursing station refrigerators
  • Monitor and record food temperatures to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Process guest and staff meal transactions in accordance with cash handling procedures
  • Maintain inventory levels and restock food, supplies, and equipment
  • Operate kitchen equipment (e.g., microwave, blender, toaster, coffeemaker) safely
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and assist with dish room duties as needed
  • Support team operations by assisting with training and covering responsibilities as needed
  • Maintain compliance with HACCP, Joint Commission, and all hospital food safety standards

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow hospital policies and procedures
  • Good manual dexterity, coordination, and ability to safely handle food service equipment
  • Ability to monitor inventory and adjust supplies as needed


 

Additional Job Details (if applicable)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–2 years of food service or customer service experience preferred
  • Basic computer and math skills required (including cash handling)
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety regulations preferred
  • Bilingual skills a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged standing and walking (up to 90% of the shift)
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; pushing and pulling food carts
  • Exposure to kitchen hazards such as hot equipment, wet floors, and cleaning chemicals
  • Fast-paced hospital environment with rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Minimum Starting Payrate:

$17.71

Shifts start at 6:15 am and the last shift ends at 9:30 pm; have 8 and 4 hour shifts available; can also work 12-hour shifts if desired
