GSRP Lead Teacher

  • Reports to Building Principal.
  • Pay rate per Master Agreement

Qualifications:

A Lead Teacher must meet one of the following minimum credential requirements:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with one of the following endorsements: Early Childhood Education (ZA), Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS), Birth-K, PK-3

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development with a major specializing in preschool teaching.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children is preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Commitment to creating a nurturing learning environment.

GSRP Requirements

  • Meet all MiLEAP GSRP and childcare licensing requirements.
  • Maintain the required Michigan teaching certificate and Early Childhood endorsement.
  • Maintain an active MiRegistry profile.
  • Complete all required annual professional development.
  • Participate in GSRP coaching, classroom observations, and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Conduct required child assessments, family conferences, and home visits (if applicable to your program model).
  • Comply with all GSRP implementation manual requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, engaging instruction aligned with the Michigan GSRP Early Childhood Standards of Quality.

  • Foster children's growth across all developmental domains, including language and literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, social-emotional learning, physical development, and creative arts.

  • Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and positive social interactions.

  • Observe, assess, and document student progress using approved assessment tools and utilize data to inform instruction.

  • Develop individualized learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of all children.

  • Collaborate with the Teacher Assistant to maintain effective classroom routines and support student learning.

  • Establish positive partnerships with families through regular communication, conferences, home visits, and family engagement activities as required by GSRP.

  • Participate as an active member of the preschool teaching team, collaborating with administrators, specialists, and support staff to meet student needs.

  • Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with GSRP requirements, district policies, licensing regulations, and state guidelines.

  • Participate in required professional learning and continuous improvement activities.

  • Support school-wide initiatives and contribute positively to the culture and mission of Olivet Community Schools.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
