The Group Sales Manager is primarily responsible foroutbound sales prospecting, appointment setting and sellinginto assigned markets, managingcustomer inquiriesthrough a variety of lead sources for larger corporate segment prospects. Thecandidatewould haveestablished marketexpertisefor 3+ years of experience in Group Meetings and Events segment. Theyleverageandbuild upon existing and new relationshipswith customers,andaccess needs/requirements andobjectivesto align customer preferences withthehoteland conference center’s248 Guestrooms and 52,000+ Event, Catering and Conference space.This position will also ensure that business is turned over properly and ina timelyfashion for quality service delivery. The Group Sales Manager will process business correspondence, create compellingproposalsand generatecontracts,and other related booking documentation as. This position requires excellentand experiencedselling skills,strong communicationskills, and a detailed understanding of property operations, food and beverage,spaceand pattern efficiencies.
Hybridconsiderationhowever, candidate will be responsible for being on site for all Site Inspections, Tours, Fam Trips, Large Group Arrivals/Pre-consand other selected meetings.
Salary range is $75,000 to $80,000 plus a Sales Incentive Plan paid quarterly based on booking production up to an additional 20% of salary.
Overall, the position is accountable for the following:
Proactively prospecting into assigned markets and building strong relationships with existing accounts through both tradeshow participation, outside calls andin houseentertainment, sitetoursand Fam Trips.
Respondingin a timely mannerto incoming group/catering opportunities that are withinassigned markets. Refer opportunities to appropriate salesassociateif business is outside thesemarkets.
Work collaboratively with other sales channels (e.g.on-property resources) to ensure sales efforts are coordinated,complementaryand not duplicative.
Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends,supplyand demand etc. andhow to sell against them.
Ensure businessbooked iswithin hotel parameters. Close the best opportunities for the property based on market conditions,the property’s needsand selectsellguidelines.
Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposals, writing contracts, customer correspondence). Transferaccurate, complete, andtimelyinformation to theConference Planning Teamin accordance withhotel and brand standards.
Actively up-sell each business opportunity to maximize revenue.
Build andmaintainstrong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Understand and activelyutilizecompany marketinginitiative/incentives to close business.
Follow up on opportunities uncovered by thebusiness development manager and Pyramid GSO team.
Identifyand implement process improvements and best practices.
Promote accountability to drive superior business results. Includes successful execution of Sales strategies and business processes.
Establish clear expectations for customers throughout the sales process.
Effectively resolve guest issues that ariseas a result ofthe sales process. Bring issues to the attention of property and sales leadership team as appropriate
Execute exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty byassistingthe customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.
Serve the customer by understanding their needs and recommending theappropriate featuresand services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations, while building a relationship and loyalty to the brand.
Up to 25% travel may berequired, and mileagegreater than that of a commuting distance to the hotel, trains/ transportation,mealsand entertainmentwill be reimbursed with detailed records of who is being entertained / prospected.
What are we looking for?
Minimum of 3years of relevanthotel or resortsales and marketing groupand eventsales experience in the hospitality industry.
Relevant university or college qualification or degree.
Understandingcorporatemarket dynamics, enterprise levelobjectivesand important aspects of business to accurately diagnose strengths and weaknesses,anticipateopportunities and risks,identifyissues, and develop strategies and plans. Aligning individual and team actions with strategies and plans to drive business results.
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, P&L statements, operating budgets, forecasting and scheduling, andthe reportingof financial data.
Knowledge of total hotel revenue management concepts,processesand strategies (including sales cycles and trends, account management, pricing, and inventory management).
