Our Client, an Automotive company, is looking for a Group Leader for their Buffalo, NY location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Participates in the training, developing and evaluating of hourly team members.
  • Participates in the development of highly effective teams.
  • Leads Global Manufacturing Systems(Client) processes and serves as resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas.
  • Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.
  • Maintains awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues.
  • Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union and management.
  • Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between the company and the United Auto Workers Union.
  • Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues. Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.
  • Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods.
  • Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training).
  • Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements. Coach, teach, counsel and mentor Group Leaders in these responsibilities
  • Review prior shift handoff notes, hour by hour boards, and downtime log.
  • Check staffing vs. plan (absences, skill coverage, overtime needs).
  • Confirm material readiness (kanban, line side inventory, critical parts).
  • Verify maintenance status on bottleneck assets. Safety topic of the day (PPE, ergonomic rotation, near miss from yesterday).
  • Quality focus (top defect mode, containment updates, layered audit findings). Delivery plan (takt, build schedule, constraints).
  • Hold the line to standard work; manage containment; verify SPC/torque/traceability; drive FPY and RFT.
 
Requirements:
  • Candidate will manage 20 to 30 leaders.
  • Will work with quality, process and maintenance engineers.
  • Highest Completed Education: Require associate and bachelor’s degree regardless of experience.
  • Year of experience: Ideal for a candidate to have manufacturing supervisory assistance. UAW experience is ideal, not required.
  • 6 sigma will standout along with managerial courage
  • Continuous Improvement Process
  • Experience and or knowledge with machinery equipment, barring, hydraulics.
  • Having knowledge of CNC will help huge
