Group Fitness Student Instructor
 
** This position is considered an independent contractor position, you will not be hired through the HR office, you will be paid through the business office monthly.
  1. The Group Fitness Student Instructor is responsible for the management of group fitness classes. This position will plan, set up, and facilitate classes with a goal of advancing Campus Recreation group fitness initiatives. 
 
  1. In addition, this position may be asked to assist with promotion, marketing, and other Campus Recreation events as assigned.
 
  1. The Group Fitness Student Instructor prioritizes safety, first and foremost. They will also create a welcoming space for students of varying fitness levels, knowledge, and backgrounds. They will be trained on basic crisis intervention, protocol, and reporting procedures at Concordia Saint Paul.
 
  1. In summary, the Intramural Referee position could include, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Group fitness class planning, subject to approval from the Campus Recreation Coordinator.
    • This can include Zumba, Yoga, HIIT, Kickboxing, or other fitting classes.
  • Set up and tear down of the space before and after each class
  • Class facilitation, including instructing on proper form
  • Creating a fun and welcoming environment
  • Injury and crisis intervention and reporting
  • Quick decision-making
  • Assisting with promotion for events
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Additional Details 
  • Estimated 3-6 hours/ week
  • Attending and facilitating all classes
  • Additional opportunities may be present such as: trainings, meetings, promotional events, tabling events, job fairs, involvement fairs, and other events promoting Campus Recreation programs (1-3 hours/week).
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Concordia University, St. Paul student
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
  • Previous experience in group fitness instruction or personal training
  • Group Fitness Instructor certification
