Job Overview:

As the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, you will support smooth property operations by overseeing the overall appearance, health and functionality of the community's landscaping, lakes and irrigation systems. This exempt leadership role is responsible for directing day-to-day grounds operations, managing staff, coordinating vendor services and ensuring water usage and landscaping standards align with operational and budget expectations.

Compensation: $80k+ annually, depending on experience

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client''s property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client''s directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all grounds maintenance operations in partnership with the General Manager
  • Supervise, schedule, train and develop a team responsible for golf course and common area landscaping maintenance
  • Drive measurable improvements in the health, appearance, and playability of the golf course and community grounds
  • Develop and execute proactive strategies and action plans to maintain and restore landscaping conditions as needed
  • Oversee irrigation systems and water management practices to ensure efficiency and compliance with usage requirements
  • Coordinate with Arizona Water District to schedule and monitor water delivery to community lakes
  • Maintain accurate weekly water usage logs and ensure adherence to allocated limits and tracking controls
  • Collaborate with neighboring communities regarding shared water resources and operational coordination
  • Review, code and approve landscaping and irrigation invoices in AVID in alignment with the approved annual budget
  • Manage procurement of materials, supplies and plant inventory, including vendor coordination and site visits as needed
  • Maintain accountability for P-Card usage (up to $10,000 monthly) and ensure timely, accurate reconciliation and reporting
  • Conduct regular inspections of community grounds and implement plans to maintain and improve landscaping quality
  • Provide consistent reporting to management, including weekly team attendance reports submitted accurately and on time
  • Lead team performance by setting expectations, ensuring accountability, and maintaining high standards for quality and attention to detail
  • Prepare for and actively participate in regular check-ins with management, providing updates on operations, progress against plans, and identifying support needs
  • Ensure timely resolution of grounds-related maintenance issues while prioritizing resources effectively

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience managing landscaping, grounds, or golf course maintenance teams
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, water management, and landscaping best practices
  • Experience with budgeting, financial tracking, and vendor management
  • Able to exercise independent judgment, prioritize competing demands, and make operational decisions
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally as needed

Education and Experience:

  • HOA, golf course, or large-scale residential landscaping experience (required)
  • Experience with irrigation systems and water usage tracking (preferred)
  • Experience using systems such as AVID or similar invoice processing tools (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to safely lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
  • Able to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods of time
  • Able to work in various weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind, etc.)
  • Able to operate landscaping equipment and tools safely
  • Must be able to work hours as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position

Work Location: Surprise, AZ

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day along with evenings and weekends as needed to attend to after-hours emergencies
