Position: Grinding Associate
Location: Farmington, NY

Summary: Nesco Resource is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Grinding Associate to join a precision manufacturing team in Farmington, NY. This temp-to-perm opportunity offers candidates the chance to build a long-term career while utilizing machining skills in a quality-focused production environment. The Grinding Associate will be responsible for setting up and operating grinding equipment, interpreting blueprints, performing precision measurements, and ensuring finished components meet strict specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to safely operate equipment while maintaining production standards.

Pay Rate:

• $18.00/Hour

Shift(s):

• 1st Shift: Monday - Friday | 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Job Duties:

• Set up and operate grinding machines to produce metal components within close tolerance specifications
• Follow tooling instructions, grinding procedures, and production requirements
• Interpret blueprints, work orders, and job instructions to determine dimensions, tolerances, finishes, and tooling requirements
• Mount grinding and regulating wheels using proper tools and equipment
• Dress grinding wheels to maintain required specifications
• Adjust machine controls for grinding speeds, feed rates, and spacing requirements
• Position and secure workpieces for grinding operations
• Perform first-piece inspections and ongoing quality checks
• Measure finished workpieces using micrometers, calipers, laser micrometers, and preset gauges
• Replace worn grinding wheels and perform routine equipment adjustments
• Grind non-metallic materials as required
• Complete production paperwork and inspection documentation
• Perform daily maintenance on grinding equipment and work areas
• Maintain tools, gauges, and equipment in a clean and organized condition
• Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or quality discrepancies to leadership
• Follow all company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and standard operating procedures

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 2-4 years of related manufacturing, machining, or grinding experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
• Strong mathematical skills including measurements, rates, and ratios
• Experience using precision measuring equipment preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

• Precision measuring tools and inspection equipment

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

• Ability to work around moving mechanical equipment
• Exposure to noise, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and vibration
• Hearing protection and required PPE must be worn at all times
• Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment where safety procedures are strictly enforced
• Must be able to work in an area requiring two employees present for safety purposes
