Description 1898 & Co. a division of Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Grid Systems Project Manager to provide utility grid operations modernization consulting services for our electric utility clients. The selected candidate will join the Enterprise System & Integration team which is focused on providing Enterprise Solution Services delivering high value to our clients through a variety of leading technologies.
The grid operations project manager shall possess strong electric utility business and technology acumen. The grid operations project manager will provide professional consulting services focused on solutions such as:
• Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) • Energy Management Systems (EMS) • Outage Management Systems (OMS) • Distribution Management Systems (DMS) • Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) • Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS)
Candidates must have strong project execution capabilities, strong leadership and collaboration capabilities, and excellent communication skills. They must be focused on continuous improvement and enterprise innovation, and have strong attention to detail while delivering high-quality work to our clients.
The grid operations architect is responsible for providing strategic guidance, research planning, and best practices to our clients executive leaders to make investment decisions that align with the long-term vision of the organization.
Position Description This position will focus on grid automation support services, emphasizing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems, transmission, distribution, and distributed energy resource management systems (EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS). The position will lead efforts to identify and deliver grid operations services that support grid modernization assessments, technology roadmaps, software upgrades, and implementations to our clients, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, customer commitment, and industry best practices.
The position will utilize in-depth knowledge of SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS to support commissioning, testing, and deployment. It will also provide field support, troubleshooting, and project coordination to enhance and maintain SCADA, EMS, OMS, DMS, ADMS, and DERMS.
Responsibilities The position will lead or assist with program estimating, planning, and budgeting efforts and be accountable for the program/project delivery execution. It will act as the project manager lead with overall project delivery responsibilities, such as scope, schedule, budget, risks, issues, and overall project delivery.
The position will support analysis, design, build, test, triaging defects, configuration, and deployment activities. It will also assist with Enterprise Program Management activities utilizing various methodologies, such as Waterfall and Agile methods.
The position will be responsible for the successful completion of the project per the budget, scope, quality, and attainment of business objectives. It will supervise the overall project status and progress, ensuring all scheduled milestones and delivery dates are met.
Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, Information Technology, or related degree from an accredited program and 5 years of relevant experience. Required or applicable years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
Required qualifications include:
• Knowledge in project management techniques and procedures • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Experience leading technical aspects of consulting engagements in regards to decarbonization and zero emissions transportation • Experience on consulting projects, client operations, or executing program management within the critical infrastructure industry • Understanding of general business and financial principles • Experience with communicating across business segments to understand project objectives
