Grid Protection Systems Engineer – Substation P&C

Your impact

From the first week, you’ll dive into typical design packages—translating protection philosophies into elementary drawings, refining relay logic and settings, and ensuring every device on the bill of materials serves the scheme’s intent. You’ll be a steady hand in a fast‑moving environment, balancing accuracy, deadlines, and cross‑team collaboration.

Core responsibilities

  1. Master and apply the company’s protection and control design philosophy.
  2. Review and redline substation protection and transmission line protection and control drawings.
  3. Review detailed system protection and control project bills of material.

Expertise you’ll leverage

  • Utility experience with electric substations, generation assets, and transmission line control/fault protection.
  • Strong command of schematic, wiring, and logic diagrams.
  • Knowledge of relays and protection schemes across generation, transmission, and distribution.
  • Dependable, self‑motivated, and detail‑oriented; superb organization and proofreading.
  • Clear communicator; able to manage multiple priorities in high‑stress scenarios.
  • Comfort with word processors, spreadsheets, and databases (preferred).

Position details

  • Location: Topeka, KS
  • Engagement: 18‑month renewable contract or Direct Hire consideration
  • Schedule: Full‑Time, 1st Shift
  • Compensation: Hourly Pay Rate is up to $84.00

Education

Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
