Technical Skills
Adobe Creative Suite: Advanced proficiency in Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop is mandatory.
Print Knowledge: Strong understanding of bleeds, trim marks, safe zones, resolutions (300 DPI), and vector vs. raster files.
Color Management: Experience working with CMYK color profiles, Pantone matching, and digital color calibration.
File Optimization: Ability to package files correctly and troubleshoot low-resolution artwork provided by clients.
Experience & Education
Education: Degree or certificate in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a graphic design role, preferably within a commercial print shop, sign shop, or fast-paced agency environment.
Portfolio: A diverse portfolio demonstrating clean layouts, typography, and projects designed specifically for physical print mediums.
Soft Skills & Soft Qualifications
Speed & Efficiency: Ability to work quickly under tight deadlines and manage multiple client design projects simultaneously.
Customer Service: Strong verbal and written communication skills for discussing design concepts directly with Shelton business clients.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous proofreading skills to catch typos, alignment issues, or layout errors before files go to production.
Preferred (Bonus) Qualifications
Print Production: Experience operating digital presses (such as Xerox, Konica Minolta, or Ricoh) or wide-format sign printers.
Finishing Work: Familiarity with cutting, scoring, binding, or weeding vinyl.
Variable Data: Experience setting up mail merges or variable data printing (VDP)
Design & Layout:
Create graphics for business cards, brochures, banners, apparel, and promotional items.
Pre-Press Setup:
Prepare files with correct bleeds, margins, resolutions, and CMYK color profiles.
Client Consultation:
Guide customers through design choices, file formats, and proof approvals.
Workflow Collaboration:
Partner with the production team to ensure accurate print output.
Work with customers, answer phones and emails, give quotes, enter in jobs, make job tickets and invoice.
Turn client concepts into impactful marketing materials while ensuring all artwork is perfectly prepared for commercial print production.
