Summary: The Grants Program Coordinator is under the direction of the Director. This position will help implement and administer program operations in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and policies including but not limited to Federal, State, and local.

  • Support/management for all CDBG programs and others as required
  • Prepare sub recipient agreements, program records, and program files; create and maintain current Project/Program binders and electronic records; prepare and process invoices, accounting records, environmental reviews, beneficiary data, updates and closeouts; conduct sub recipient monitoring visits for program management compliance; schedule advertisement and conduct public hearings
  • Coordinate and communicates all grant program activities and financial management with the Director and Grant Project Manager.
  • Research program funding opportunities and write grant drafts, as needed.
  • Schedule and conduct at least two public education or outreach efforts annually
  • Prepare CDBG Urban County Qualification letters (to municipalities) each year
  • Data entry for social service program related information
  • May be responsible for supervising contractors and/or agencies, sub recipients
  • Perform required monitoring of grant recipients according to the Monitoring and Compliance manual
  • Regular, consistent attendance is required
  • Any other duties as assigned

Competencies: Employee must be able to operate basic office equipment, office computer and software, and any other specialty equipment needed for the position. Employee must have strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and customer service skills. Must be able to communicate clearly with staff and the general public and provide clear, concise, and accurate information. Employee must have the ability to develop program strategies for public health and assess and report program outcomes. Employee must be able to collaborate and be highly motivated and an independent self-starter. Employee must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office program and be able to locate, research, and report information on the Internet. Must have strong sense of respect for confidentiality involving clients. Employee must be able to acquire a knowledge of community resources and actively build relationships with community referral and support agencies. Skills in bookkeeping, project management, internet research, & CDBG are a plus.

Work Environment: The incumbent works in a typical office environment with little or no exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Primary functions are limited to an office environment. Occasional duties may require travel or working in non-office environment.

Physical Demands: Light work. Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls. To be considered capable of performing a full or wide range of light work, you must have the ability to do substantially all of these activities. If someone can do light work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary work, unless there are additional limiting factors such as loss of fine dexterity or inability to sit for long periods of time.

Required Education/Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent GED and a minimum of two years of relevant experience required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Excellent problem solving skills; strong, detailed record keeping; multi-tasking and willingness to accept new assignments; excellent customer service, community involvement and outreach are essential. Must possess a valid Driver's License.
