Grain Handling Operations Technician

A day in the life

Sun up, boots on, safety check complete. You step onto the grain deck to guide inbound loads, keep grain moving, and ensure every kernel is handled safely and efficiently. You’ll switch between operating handling systems and dryers, keeping a close eye on grain levels and quality, and documenting every step so the team knows exactly what’s in storage and where it’s headed. Between transfers, you tidy bins and grounds, knock out preventative maintenance, and stay alert to OSHA standards so everyone goes home safe.

What you’ll do

• Load, unload, transfer, and store grain across bins and storage areas
• Operate grain handling equipment and dryers to keep product moving
• Monitor grain quality and moisture; measure and report levels and conditions
• Maintain cleanliness of bins, storage spaces, and facility grounds
• Perform basic maintenance and preventative repairs on equipment
• Follow OSHA guidelines and all site safety procedures
• Complete required logs and documentation accurately and on time

Experience with grain elevator operations is expected.

What you bring

• High school diploma or GED
• Mechanical aptitude (electrical or hydraulic knowledge is a plus)
• Comfort operating equipment such as forklifts and skid loaders
• Comfortable working at heights up to 200 ft
• Ability to work in heat, cold, dusty areas, and confined spaces
• Physically able to lift, climb, bend, and shovel
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
• Agricultural background preferred
