The Dock Manager is the primary caretaker of the marina and must have extensive knowledge of the rules, regulations, and capabilities of the marina and balance them with the needs and desires of the tenants. Utilizing dockhands and coordinating with other departments, the Dock Manager maintains a safe and happy marina.  


The Dock Manager is responsible for the following:


  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the property and docks, including loose and bagged trash 
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of employee and guest facing work areas 
  • Maintaining quality of marina equipment  
  • Learning and understanding marina management systems 
  • Knowing and enforcing marina rules, guidelines and lease terms 
  • Being knowledgeable and able to communicate water laws and safety guidelines 
  • Assisting guests and tenants with general needs 
  • Assisting guests and tenants with docking, fueling, and pump-out of their vessels 
  • Informing guests and tenants of marina and property services and offerings 
  • Observing the state of the docks including loose boats and ropes 
  • Observing safety and facility needs, such as fire extinguishers and water leaks 
  • Communicating observations and concerns regarding the state of the property and equipment to other departments and management.
  • Other tasks as necessary 

The Dock Manager is the focal point of tenant satisfaction. It is important that the Dock Manager maintain a positive attitude, be friendly and accommodating of guests and tenants. Communication of issues with the docks, vessels, and guests to other departments and management are of the utmost importance.
