The Darla Moore School of Business invites applications for a full-time Assistant Director. The Assistant Director for Student Advising is a key member of the Academic and Student Affairs team within the Darla Moore School of Business Graduate Division. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive academic advising and support services to graduate business students, ensuring timely degree completion and enhancing their overall educational experience. Through in-person and virtual engagement, this position focuses on helping students develop a personalized academic plan of study, monitors program progression, and proactively identifies and resolves issues impacting course registration and academic performance.

Job Duty
Manage the academic advising and course registration process for graduate business (including MBA exchange) students, ensuring they have a personalized academic plan of study, and are effectively counseled on specific curriculum decisions, appropriate choice and scheduling of courses, as well as selection or change of specialization or graduate certificate to complement programmatic coursework. Apply student attributes, provide course overrides when necessary, and facilitate the removal of registration holds. Coordinate communication with students, faculty, Registrars Office, Graduate School and other stakeholders.

Actively monitor the academic progress of students and proactively identify academic performance issues which may result in probation, suspension and/or loss of fellowship. Communicatee with faculty regarding student performance and behavioral concerns. Devise and implement intervention strategies to help students experiencing academic difficulty to improve performance and persist toward degree completion. Provide guidance and support to students facing personal or academic challenges, referring them to appropriate campus resources as needed. Track fellowship and graduate assistantship eligibility. Mange the collection, review, and processing of programs of study to facilitate graduation clearance. Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with university policies and regulations.

Assist with the course scheduling process for each term. Contribute to programmatic planning and assessment by assisting with the development of periodic academic reports on matters such as student performance and retention, time to degree, graduation, specialization and course preference, schedule planning, etc.

Provide support for enrollment and career preparation onboarding activities, co- and extra-curricular activities, including communication and logistics for international immersions and reporting for summer internship experiences.
