Graduate Assistant Mens Basketball

Hiram College invites applications for the position of Mens Basketball Graduate Assistant. The successful candidate will be actively involved in the recruitment, retention, and day-to-day operations of the Hiram College Mens Basketball program. Hiram College is a member of the Presidents Athletic Conference and NCAA Division III.

Position Purpose The graduate assistant mens basketball coach will work directly with the mens basketball program and assist the head coach with all facets of the day-to-day operations of the program in compliance with Hiram College, PAC and NCAA policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist head coach in practice and competition planning and implementation
  • Assist in all facets of recruiting and retention of student-athletes to the mens basketball program
  • Assist with strength and conditioning program for mens basketball
  • Assist with all funding raising initiatives for the Hiram College mens basketball program
  • Do athletic laundry in sport season
  • Participate in Annual Day with Hiram Golf Outing
  • Other duties as assigned, to possibly include, but not be limited to other sport event management during the off-season

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong working knowledge of mens basketball
  • Ability to teach skills and strategy of mens basketball
  • Working knowledge of strength and conditioning relative to mens basketball
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented office environment and interact in a positive manner with students, faculty, staff, visitors, and the public.
  • Microsoft Word
  • Excel
  • Experience with Front Rush
  • Proficient with all forms of social media

Experience

  • Previous college mens basketball and/or coaching experience preferred
  • Experience recruiting college athletes preferred

Education

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Acceptance into the Hiram College MAIS Graduate Program or Sports Management Graduate program required for consideration
