Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant will actively contribute to the work of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by fulfilling the following responsibilities:

  • Group Tours & Campus Visits ¿ 25%

  • Facilitate group campus tours

  • Communicate and help coordinate group tour visits by monitoring the group tour email address and requests.

  • Supervise student tour guides

  • Monitor performance, provide real-time coaching, and ensure consistency in tour quality and customer service.

  • Assist with development of visit programs & training

  • Support updates to tour scripts, visit structure, and ongoing professional development for tour guides.

  • Admissions Events ¿ 30%

  • Assist with planning, coordination, execution, and assessment

  • Contribute to event timelines, logistics, setup, and post-event evaluation for programs like Showcases and Admitted Student Day.

  • Collaborate with campus partners

  • Communicate with departments to confirm participation, manage needs, and ensure smooth coordination across all event elements.

  • Serve in leadership role during events

  • Help manage event flow, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a positive guest experience for students and families.

  • Orientation Programs ¿ 40%

  • Support coordination and delivery of orientation

  • Assist in executing daily orientation sessions, managing schedules, and ensuring all program components run smoothly.

  • Assist with training orientation leaders & preparing materials

  • Help develop and facilitate training sessions; prepare schedules, materials, and resources needed for orientation leaders and participants.

  • Supervise orientation leaders

  • Provide oversight, support, and feedback to orientation leaders to maintain a high-quality and consistent student experience.

  • Outside Job Description Duties - 5%

This position includes day of duties that may require assistances outside of the job description

Required Qualifications

To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions.
  • Hold a Bachelor¿s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework and remain in good academic standing.
  • Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States.
  • Licensed Driver

Proposed Salary

  • A monthly stipend of $1,000.00 per month
  • A tuition waiver, reducing your semester rate to $25 plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship
