Position Title: Graduate Assistant for Dunlap Family Athletic & Recreation Center Reports to: Manager, Dunlap Family Athletic & Recreation Center Primary Function: The Graduate Assistant supports the daily operations, scheduling, rentals, and supervision of the Dunlap Family Athletic & Recreation Center. This position plays a key role in ensuring a safe, efficient, and welcoming environment for varsity athletics, campus recreation, student workers, and external rental groups. The GA contributes to the College’s mission by promoting student development, operational excellence, and high-quality recreational and event experiences. Required Qualifications: Degree in sports management, exercise science, business, marketing or related field. Education: Bachelor’s degree Essential duties - Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Dunlap Family Athletic & Recreation Center, including opening/closing procedures and facility readiness
- Monitor facility usage to ensure safety, policy compliance, and a positive experience for all users
- Support scheduling and coordination of varsity practices, recreation hours, intramurals, special events, and external rentals
- Supervise student workers during assigned shifts, including training, task delegation, and performance oversight
- Manage game-day operations for athletic practices and events hosted within the facility
- Assist with external facility rentals by supporting communication, logistics, and facility preparation for rental groups
- Serve as on-site supervisor for rentals when scheduled, including evenings and weekends, while understanding that primary supervision may rotate depending on staffing
- Coordinate event setup and breakdown for internal and external events, tournaments, camps, and community programs
- Ensure rental compliance with facility rules, safety standards, and contractual agreements
- Assist with rental logistics including communication with renters, invoicing support, attendance logs, and usage reporting
- Maintain equipment and facility standards through regular inspections, inventory tracking, and coordination of repairs
- Provide customer service at the front desk, assisting students, staff, coaches, and community members
- Collaborate with campus departments such as Public Safety, FMO, Athletics, and Events & Conference Services
- Complete administrative tasks including incident reports, maintenance logs, scheduling updates, and communication postings
- Support marketing and communication efforts for facility hours, recreation programs, and event announcements
- Participate in professional development and leadership training opportunities within the department
Special challenges and environment: - Frequent evening and weekend hours required
- Occasional outdoor work and exposure to varying weather
- Ability to lift 25+ pounds
- Extended periods of standing, walking, and facility monitoring
- Fast-paced environment with overlapping priorities and event turnover
