Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant will support the daily operations of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) by assisting with the coordination, management, and promotion of our new meeting and event space located at The Depot.

Responsibilities

Coordination - 40%

  • Coordinate the scheduling and upkeep of The Depot meeting space, including managing reservations, maintaining usage calendars, and ensuring smooth communication between internal and external groups.

Clerical & Administrative - 40%

  • Develop organizational systems for maintaining schedules, documentation, and operational procedures for the meeting and event space.
  • Assist with front office operations, including processing program registrations, handling customer inquiries, and completing clerical tasks such as daily deposits and basic financial tracking.
  • Create written materials to support marketing and information needs, including web content, user guides, and other promotional documents.

Collaboration - 15%

  • Collaborate with staff to improve workflow processes and support the development of new CPE programs and outreach efforts.

Other - 5%

  • Work closely with the Director of Continuing and Professional Education in completing additional tasks and assignments as necessary for the success of the department.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelors degree.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College & State University. (Upload Acceptance into "Additional Documents" attachment in application).
  • Maintain academic good standing. If a students grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have the next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.
  • This position will work in-person 19 hours per week.
  • Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition. Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.
  • Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.

  • Customer service experience or comfort interacting with the public.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and take initiative.
  • Experience with event coordination, administrative work, or marketing/content development is preferred but not required.

Preferred Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in communication, marketing, business, or a related field.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in an office setting.
  • Event planning and coordination experience.

Proposed Salary

$12.00 / hour
