Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant will provide educationally beneficial assistance to the conduct of research in chronic disease, nutrition, and program evaluation. The GA will mainly participate in writing literature reviews, data collection, and assist with data management and reporting.

Responsibilities

Research/Clinical/Community Outreach - 50

  • Coordinate mobile health unit screening activities and events.
  • Collate and analyze data from mobile health screenings for reports and scientific manuscripts.

Project Coordination - 30

  • Assist in coordinating meetings and reporting for evaluation of chronic diseases including asthma with the Georgia department of public health.
  • This includes report writing and presentation at meetings and conferences.

Administrative Support - 10

  • Supervise undergraduate research students and assist with experiential learning activities for public health seniors in job interviewing skills, public speaking and career readiness.

Other Duties as Assigned - 10

  • The graduate assistant performs other duties as assigned and participates in staff, committee, and other university meetings as appropriate and at the request of supervisor.

Approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College & State University. Upload Acceptance into "Other" attachment in application.

Maintain academic good standing. If a students grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.

This position will work in-person 19 hours per week.

  • Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition.
  • Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.

Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.

Proposed Salary

$13.00 / hour.
