Job Summary

The Graduate Assistant in the College of Education Deans Office supports faculty and staff through research assistance, project coordination, and administrative tasks that advance key initiatives across the college. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic academic setting. The assistantship offers meaningful hands-on experience in research, assessment, event planning, and professional communication within a supportive and engaging work environment.

Responsibilities

Research - 40%

  • Assist faculty and staff with various research projects.

Project Coordination - 40%

  • Support the Deans Office, in particular the Assessment/Accreditation Team with:
  • Designing newsletters and project brochures.
  • Event planning and coordination.

Other Duties as Assigned - 20%

  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the supervisor.
  • Participate in staff meetings, committee meetings, and other university functions as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in the Humanities.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Approved for regular admission to a graduate degree program at Georgia College & State University. Upload Acceptance into "Additional Documents" attachment in application.
  • Maintain academic good standing. If a students grade point average falls below a 3.00 (academic warning), the student will have next semester or summer term to improve and return to good standing before termination of the assistantship. Should a student fail to return to good standing after the next semester or summer term, or should a student receive academic exclusion and be dismissed from the degree program, the assistantship will be terminated at once.
  • This position will work in-person 19 hours per week.
  • Full assistantships (19 hours/week) cover all but $25 of tuition.
  • Applicable student fees are not covered by the assistantship.
  • Course loads for graduate assistants must be at least 6 graduate semester hours.
