Primary Objective: Perform professional classroom teaching under the supervision of a Principal while collaborating in a professional learning community to meet student needs and develop effective biliteracy practices. The teacher will implement dual-language lessons using research-based immersion strategies, including goal-setting, assessment, and scaffolding, to ensure instruction is relevant, consistent with the District curriculum, and accessible to all learners.
Valid Minnesota teaching license in Elementary Education (K-6). Language Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to use precise academic language and communicate effectively in both English and Spanish. Meet the professional development requirements of the MN READ Act. This requires having already completed an MDE-approved professional development program (e.g., LETRS, CORE OL&LA, CAREIALL) or the ability to complete such training independently. Considerable knowledge of core curriculum areas, teaching methods, and researched best practices. Knowledge and skill in inclusive instructional practices, including the ability to provide a balanced curriculum that meets the needs of all learners and ensures equitable access for a diverse student population. Must demonstrate continued professional development through coursework, research, and peer collaboration. Ability to use multiple assessment and evaluation techniques proven effective in dual language education. Working ability to utilize computer and multimedia technology to enhance instruction. Considerable ability to work in a professional learning community (PLC) learning environment with other teachers and support staff.
Desired Qualifications Previous experience teaching in an elementary immersion program. Prior successful experience in an urban setting working with a diverse student population. Specialized training or certification in bilingual teaching methods, in addition to general elementary licensure.
