Description

The Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) is a global scientific and medical professional organization dedicated to ensuring better health for all through laboratory medicine. It serves over 50,000 professionals and acts as a central hub for bridging the gap between laboratory research and clinical application, ensuring better patient care by providing education, fostering collaboration, promoting research, and advocating for policies that support high-quality diagnostics.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Government Affairs, the Government Affairs Coordinator provides administrative and logistical support to ADLM's public policy program and contributes to the strategic positioning of ADLM and the field of laboratory medicine in the health policy arena, with opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides program management support to the Chief Policy Officer and Manager, Government Affairs
  • Provides administrative and logistical support, including committee meetings, workshops, briefings, and other events
  • Provides support for ADLM Capitol Hill activities
  • Coordinates development and publication of print and online policy-related materials
  • Edits policy documents
  • Assists in developing presentations related to policy activities and programs
  • Works with ADLM Communications staff to promote events/activities relevant to Government Affairs
  • Participates in strategic discussions to advance the goals and interests of the association.
  • Prepares PowerPoint and slide presentations as needed.
  • Prepares survey vehicles, compiles survey responses and prepares survey reports.
  • Drafts and prepares correspondence, reports, copy, etc., as assigned in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provides data research assistance for government affairs projects and synthesizes complex medical information for a variety of audiences
  • Handles staff and member travel arrangements as necessary. May travel to ADLM's Annual Meeting
  • Codes and submits invoices to Finance Department
  • Suggests improvements in processes and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university and one to two years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in public policy-related field preferred.
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

ADLM currently is working a hybrid office schedule with staff coming into the office one day a week with the ability to work remotely from home up to four days a week
