Step into a typical day at a local manufacturing shop in Ann Arbor, MI 48104, where precision and pace go hand in hand. You arrive early, review your work orders, and stage components. With blueprints and welding symbols in hand, you lay out, position, align, and fit parts in a fixture, confirming every measurement before striking your first arc.

Your day-to-day

• Prepare components: layout, position, align, and fit parts into welding fixtures per instructions and prints.
• Set up a gas-shielded MIG welder and weld to specification, ensuring strong, clean, and consistent beads.
• Interpret blueprints and welding symbols to guide every step of your work.
• Use hand tools, clamps, and grinders to prep, assemble, and finish parts.
• Perform basic maintenance on welding equipment to keep everything running smoothly.

What you bring

• 2+ years of MIG welding experience and the ability to read welding blueprints with confidence.
• Proficiency with a tape measure, production welding setups, and blueprint reading.

Tools and tech you’ll use

• MIG Welder
• Stick Welder
• Robotic Welder

Compensation, schedule, and benefits

• Pay: $22–$24 per hour, depending on experience.
• Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.; Friday overtime is common.
• Benefits: Paid sick time and PTO, health, dental, and vision insurance, and 401(k).
