Job Title: Global Quality Manager

Job Description

The Global Quality Manager leads product quality, supplier quality, and quality systems initiatives across global operations in a highly hands-on capacity. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this role serves as the primary quality leader for the organization, partnering closely with customers, suppliers, engineering teams, and manufacturing operations. The position requires a strategic, experienced quality professional who can assess current processes, optimize Quality Management Systems, and drive continuous improvement across multi-site manufacturing environments. This individual will have significant influence in shaping the future quality organization and defining long-term team structure as the company continues to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product quality and supplier quality initiatives across global operations.
  • Enhance, optimize, and continuously improve Quality Management Systems and quality processes.
  • Develop and maintain robust product quality and supplier quality programs.
  • Establish, track, and drive quality metrics and continuous improvement programs.
  • Interface directly with customers to address quality concerns, manage corrective actions, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to resolve quality issues and improve overall performance.
  • Support global manufacturing operations, with a focus on process standardization and quality improvements across multiple sites.
  • Drive root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Lead process optimization efforts to improve yield, reliability, and consistency in manufacturing quality.
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute a long-term quality strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders and build organizational buy-in for quality initiatives and standards.
  • Provide hands-on quality leadership, balancing strategic planning with direct execution of key quality activities.
  • Support customer-facing quality activities, including audits, reviews, and ongoing communication.
  • Coordinate and participate in occasional meetings with overseas manufacturing teams, including teams based in China.
  • Travel to China several times per year to support manufacturing operations and strengthen supplier and plant relationships.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive experience with Quality Management Systems and their continuous improvement.
  • Strong experiennce in product quality, supplier quality, and manufacturing quality in a multi-site environment.
  • Proven ability to lead continuous improvement of quality systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining product quality and supplier quality programs.
  • Hands-on experience driving corrective actions, root cause analysis, CAPA, and process optimization.
  • Comfort interfacing with customers, suppliers, executives, and manufacturing teams in a customer-facing quality role.
  • Experience supporting global manufacturing operations across multiple locations, including overseas facilities.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and build organizational buy-in for quality initiatives.
  • Hands-on quality leadership style, with the ability to execute detailed tasks while also developing strategy.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems and their application in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience leading quality initiatives across multiple locations and coordinating global teams.
  • Strong communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to present to and collaborate with leadership.
  • Comfortable supporting overseas manufacturing operations, including facilities in China.
  • Experience in avionics, aerospace, or electronics manufacturing, including PCB assembly quality, is highly desirable.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is highly preferred.
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing and PCB assembly quality is advantageous.
  • Experience with avionics or aerospace applications is a strong plus.
  • Proven ability to build cross-functional partnerships across engineering, operations, and supply chain teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a small-company environment with high visibility and direct access to leadership.
  • Capability to support occasional meetings with manufacturing teams in China.
  • Willingness to travel to China approximately 3-4 times per year to support manufacturing and supplier relationships.

Work Environment

This role is based onsite in North Carolina within an approximately 32-employee organization that is heavily focused on engineering and R&D. The local operation concentrates on advanced display products and avionics applications, while manufacturing operations are located in China. The work environment is collaborative and entrepreneurial, offering direct access to leadership and a small-company atmosphere where individuals can drive meaningful change. The position provides a flexible work schedule outside of core hours (10 AM - 3 PM), with occasional evening meetings required to support global teams. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
