Under general supervision, this position is responsible for formulating Geographic Information Systems applications to satisfy requests for products or service and may also be responsible for system administration of both software and hardware, including maintenance and installation.

  • Maintains spatial and tabular data using standard industry tools; collects, compiles, deciphers, and calculates data from various internal and external sources.
  • Manages projects related to municipal development, stormwater infrastructure, and roadway maintenance including impervious surface calculations, Governmental Accounting Standards Board functions, Highway Users Tax Fund functions and pavement surface calculations.
  • Conducts research and oversees the implementation of GIS systems including map conversion, data design, digitizing, analysis, and modeling.
  • Performs system and process analytics, makes recommendations to ensure assigned projects and initiatives are successful.
  • Prepares electronic data, mapping templates, graphic displays, physical and electronic maps, and photographs for internal and external customers.
  • Develops methodology, designs, and implements desktop and/or web-based applications, produces data products to meet the needs of clients,and interprets results of related analyses.
  • Provides support and customer training for desktop software, web-based and mobile applications, and data editing functions.
  • Prepares functional description of the GIS system including application specification, identification of user interfaces, documentation of data sources, database design, data flow diagrams, project cost, schedule planning and reporting resource requirements.
  • Develops and implements procedures for data maintenance and data quality assurance.
  • Liaises with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepares for application development, system hardware communication and software configuration plans including migration plans needed to accommodate application requirements over time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, certification and/or licensure required. An equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential duties and meet the necessary employment standards may be considered.

Requires a bachelor's degree in geography, urban planning, computer science, geology, or a related field supplemented by two (2) years of experience with GIS.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Drivers License issued by the State of Colorado for the type of vehicle or equipment operated; safe driving record and a minimum of two (2) years of driving history.

Tools & Equipment

Requires use of general office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, and related software. Use of specialized tools or equipment may also be necessary, including but not limited to technical devices, mechanical tools, heavy equipment, machinery, public-safety-related items, or other industry-specific systems. If required by the position, the employee may operate a personal or Town-owned vehicle.

General and Sensory Requirements

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools, or controls. Duties may also require stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs or ladders, and maintaining balance. The employee must be able to talk and hear effectively, both in person and over the phone, and must be capable of operating a vehicle if required by the role. Vision requirements include consistent near and far visual acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus to allow a broad field of vision.

Moderate Physical Demands

This position involves frequent physical activity and movement. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to twenty-five (25) pounds frequently and up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.

Environment

Physical presence onsite is required. Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office environment but employees holding this position may work in varied indoor locations. The noise level is typically quiet but varies depending on activities or location. Employees in this position may work in proximity to moving mechanical parts or machinery.

Full and hiring salary range:

$76,712.00 - $111,232.00

Interviews will begin the week of June 29 and are anticipated to continue through July 17. Interviews may include a one-way video interview, a preliminary panel interview, and final panel interview.

You may enroll in the Town of Parker benefits if you are classified as a full-time employee and have completed the eligibility waiting period of 30 days. Coverage will begin the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
