Salary:
Level I: $1,742.41 - $2,082.34, paid bi-weekly
Level II: $1,925.18 - $2,300.77, paid bi-weekly
EXAMINATION SCHEDULE:
Examination:
Written Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicants knowledge of GIS tools and applications; mapping techniques and principles.
The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications/Employment Standards:
Level I: Completion of the Twelfth grade or GED and one (1) year of experience using ArcGIS software; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Level II: Associate Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related field AND one (1) year of experience using ArcGIS or related GIS software;
OR an equivalent combination of training and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to perform the essential functions of the position.

Additional Information
All Kern County employees are designated "Disaster Service Workers" through state and local laws (CA Government Code Sec. 3100-3109 and Ordinance Code Title 2-Administration, Ch. 2.66 Emergency Services). As Disaster Service Workers, all County employees are expected to remain at work, or to report for work as soon as practicable, following a significant emergency or disaster.
Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.
A background check may be conducted for this classification.
Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which one (1) immediate appointment(s) will be made at the Assessor-Recorder. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.

Deferred Compensation: This section 457 plan allows employees to contribute on a pre-tax basis to a supplemental retirement account which is then paid out to them when they retire.
