This full-time position supports the clinical operations for the Hayward Genetics Center in compliance with the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, as well as applicable federal, state, and institutional ordinances. Primary responsibilities include specimen receiving, accessioning, and clinical laboratory results reporting. Under general supervision, the employee also maintains quality control, maintenance, preanalytical and postanalytical clinical laboratory event records; liaises with the Office of Health and Safety (OEHS) as the departmental health and safety representative; assists in record retention and archiving of clinical laboratory reports, and facilitates customer service relationships regarding specimen handling and laboratory reporting with clinical partners. The position works with colleagues to increase productivity and maintain service in the laboratory and analysis sections, adheres to laboratory policies for safety, conduct, and performance; and participates in continuing education.
