Muskego-Norway Schools is seeking a .5 FTE Music Educator at Bay Lane Elementary School that is able to inspire musical discovery by leading a strong general music program for students in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade for the 2026-27 school year. The district is committed to selecting an educator who maintains a course of continuous improvement and can support the district''s mission of ensuring every student is learning, growing and succeeding. There is a strong sense of community and parent support surrounding the school and district.

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidate should possess strong skills in music literacy, assessment and differentiation strategies. The ideal candidate will be focused on student achievement through music performance and possess the ability to readily motivate students, establish rapport with parents and collaborate effectively with colleagues in a professional learning community. Wisconsin DPI certification (1515) to teach General Music in grades K-6 is required.

Candidates must:

  • Demonstrate familiarity with state music education and academic standards in all relevant subject area disciplines;
  • Present lesson plans that are relevant, rigorous through an integrated curriculum;
  • Be willing to teach a systematic method of music literacy with a good balance of singing and classroom instruments;
  • Be knowledgeable of current best practices such as Kodaly, Orff, or Dalcroze.
  • Demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm and a high degree of energy;
  • Have effective listening skills to engage in professional discourse while striving for consensus;
  • Have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the tenets of a professional learning community;
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze, synthesize student achievement data and implement improvements that supports and enhances student learning;
  • Demonstrate and understand the use of technologies related to music that can further higher-order thinking skills;
  • Have excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrate the ability to create an engaging learning environment which promotes the success of all students;
  • Maintain a lifelong learning commitment through credentials which reflect post-secondary training, conference attendance, and membership in professional and civic organizations;
  • Have a positive approach to problem solving, collaboration, teamwork, and respect.
