    Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development

    • Recruit, train, coach, and develop General Merchandise associates.
    • Schedule and direct department personnel to meet customer and operational needs.
    • Provide performance coaching, recognition, and corrective action when appropriate.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer service excellence.
    • Support succession planning and associate development initiatives.

    Customer Service

    • Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
    • Assist customers with product selection and department-related inquiries.
    • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
    • Maintain an inviting, organized, and customer-friendly shopping environment.
    • Promote customer loyalty through positive interactions and service recovery.

    Department Operations

    • Oversee daily operations of the General Merchandise Department.
    • Ensure shelves, displays, endcaps, and promotional areas remain fully stocked and properly merchandised.
    • Monitor inventory levels and order merchandise as needed.
    • Maintain accurate pricing, tagging, and signage throughout the department.
    • Ensure merchandise is stocked, rotated, and displayed according to company standards.
    • Coordinate product receiving, replenishment, and inventory management activities.

    Merchandising & Sales Growth

    • Execute company merchandising plans, seasonal programs, and promotional events.
    • Maintain attractive displays that maximize product visibility and sales.
    • Analyze sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
    • Ensure department presentation standards consistently support company objectives.
    • Monitor market trends and customer buying patterns to optimize product assortment.

    Financial Management

    • Manage department labor, expenses, inventory, and shrink.
    • Monitor department financial performance and key performance indicators.
    • Develop and execute action plans to achieve sales and profitability goals.
    • Ensure efficient scheduling and labor utilization practices.
    • Support inventory accuracy and effective stock management procedures.

    Safety & Compliance

    • Maintain a safe working and shopping environment.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards.
    • Support loss prevention and shrink reduction initiatives.
    • Ensure associates follow all safety procedures and equipment guidelines.
    • Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
    • Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Strong leadership and team development skills.
    • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
    • Knowledge of retail merchandising, inventory control, pricing, and promotional execution.
    • Ability to analyze sales and operational reports.
    • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
    • Proficiency with retail systems, inventory tools, and business technology.
