HHM Talent is assisting a client search for an Automotive General Manager in Mobile, AL.

The ideal candidate will be local to the Mobile market or within reasonable driving distance.


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead the overall operations of a dealership. This role is responsible for driving profitability, developing department leaders, improving customer satisfaction, and ensuring the dealership operates efficiently across all areas of the business. The General Manager will oversee variable operations, fixed operations, finance, and administrative functions while creating a high-performance culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily dealership operations including sales, finance, service, parts, and accounting
  • Drive revenue growth, profitability, and overall store performance
  • Manage and develop department managers, holding leadership accountable to goals and KPIs
  • Monitor new and used vehicle sales performance, inventory levels, aging, and gross profit
  • Review F&I performance including products per deal, per copy, lender relationships, and CIT
  • Lead fixed operations strategy including service absorption, labor sales, parts gross, and CSI
  • Analyze financial statements and identify opportunities to improve performance
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and expense control across all departments
  • Ensure strong customer experience standards and resolve escalated issues when needed
  • Recruit, train, and retain top talent across the dealership
  • Maintain compliance with manufacturer standards, state regulations, and company policies
  • Build relationships with OEM partners, vendors, and community stakeholders
  • Create and execute strategic plans for long-term growth

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of dealership leadership experience as a General Manager, General Sales Manager, or similar role
  • Multi-franchise or multi-rooftop experience 
  • Strong understanding of variable and fixed operations
  • Proven track record of increasing sales and profitability
  • Ability to read and interpret dealership financial statements
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics
  • Excellent communication and decision-making abilities
  • Experience with dealership management systems such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, or similar
  • High level of professionalism and accountability
  • Strong OEM relationship management experience
  • Experience leading turnaround or growth-focused stores
