General Maintenance Worker I Location: Curtis Bay, Maryland (US Coast Guard Yard) Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Work Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift Compensation: $26.00-$26.00/hr. Tessera is seeking an experienced and efficient General Maintenance Worker I with a helpful attitude. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Perform a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, window replacement and fitting, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors; Utilize plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls or ceilings. Repair concrete floors, tiles, steps, and sidewalks. Communicate and interact directly with the customer, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs; Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customer. Maintain preventive maintenance and repair records. Read and understand drawings, work plans, and maps. Remove snow/ice and spread salt on walkways, piers, steps, driveways, roads, awnings, or parking lots, using shovel and snow blower or snowplow and salt spreader. Maintain buildings, grounds sidewalks, and roads including repairing, patching, cleaning of surfaces and sidewalks/road irregularities, manholes, potholes, ruts, etc. Repairs parking lots and roads by installing asphalt patch and sealer. Operate grounds equipment to conduct work, such as walk-type, riding/stand-on mowers (less than 2000 lbs.), golf carts, UTVs, street sweepers, etc. Maintain landscaping for the purpose of reducing erosion, preserving an presenting grounds in a healthy and attractive condition. Qualifications: One (1) year of relevant facilities maintenance experience required, preferably in a commercial/industrial setting. Working knowledge of painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Ability to learn a wide variety of building and grounds maintenance. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to provide customer service in a professional and courteous manner. Physical Requirements: Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis. Position may require working in high places such as scaffolding, ladders, man baskets, and/or cherry pickers. Position duties require working outside in the weather. Conditions may include rain, cold and/or heat. Work site location can include steep inclines, such as slopes, hills, and uneven ground surfaces. Requirements: Valid state Driver license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance carrier.
