General Maintenance Technician

Our client in Willoughby, OH is seeking a Maintenance Janitor. (Temp to Hire)

The Maintenance Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional manufacturing facility. This role combines janitorial duties with general maintenance and minor repair work to support daily plant operations. The ideal candidate is versatile, reliable, and comfortable performing a wide range of tasks in an industrial environment.

This is a 1st Shift 6:30am to 3pm M-F Schedule offering $20/hr.

Key Responsibilities

Janitorial & Facility Cleaning

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, breakrooms, offices, and common areas
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors throughout the facility
• Empty trash, recycling, and hazardous waste bins per procedures
• Clean windows, doors, walls, and high-traffic areas
• Maintain cleaning supplies and report inventory needs

General Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform basic repairs including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting
• Replace light bulbs, filters, belts, hoses, and minor mechanical components
• Assist with machine cleaning and preventive maintenance as assigned
• Perform minor facility repairs such as door hardware, flooring, and fixtures
• Monitor facility condition and report issues needing advanced repair

Grounds & Exterior Maintenance

• Maintain building exterior, docks, and walkways
• Assist with snow removal, salting, lawn care, and debris removal
• Keep exterior areas clean and safe for employees and deliveries

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all plant safety policies, including lockout/tagout where applicable
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly
• Properly handle and dispose of cleaning chemicals and materials
• Support 5S, lean, and housekeeping standards
• Report safety hazards, spills, and maintenance concerns promptly

Additional Duties

• Assist with facility moves, setups, and special projects
• Support maintenance and production teams as needed
• Perform other duties assigned to support plant operations

Qualifications

Required

• 1–3 years of janitorial, maintenance, or industrial facility experience
• Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and building systems
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness

Preferred

• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Familiarity with basic electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems
• Experience using forklifts, pallet jacks, or maintenance equipment (certification a plus)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and climb for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable working around machinery, loud noise, dust, and cleaning chemicals
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures
