Position Summary: Thegeneral maintenance position responsibilities would include performing general maintenance duties such as minor building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs as necessary to district owned buildings and grounds.

Qualifications: Completion of high school/GED and three years ofgeneral maintenance work experience preferred but not required. Valid Driver's license.

Other Qualifications:The person in this position must be able to effectively and safely use the tools and equipment of the trade or craft of expertise; read, listen, understand and follow oral and written instruction including but not limited to technical manuals, charts and terms related to the trade or craft; be able to work well with people; be able to appropriately and efficiently work as a team; be courteous to children and adults and use only language and behaviors appropriate to a school setting. This person must be honest, trustworthy, and motivated to do timely and good quality work without close supervision; be punctual and consistent in work habits and attendance. Must be willing to occasionally work unusual hours in crisis situations. Additionally, this position is required to adhere to all Board Policies and Administrative Directives for district vehicle operation

Physical Demands:The person in this position must have and maintain the intellectual, sensory, emotional and physical abilities necessary for the effective and safe performance of duty; be a safe driver; be able to occasionally lift and carry objects which exceed one hundred (100) pounds and frequently lift and carry objects, with support from another team member, weighing morethan one hundred (100). This person must be able to drive a variety of vehicles, push, pull, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, talk, hear, climb and crawl; work in extreme temperatures; tolerate dust, chemicals and other substances and environmental conditions associated with maintenance work; be emotionally mature, able to work cooperatively, cope with stress appropriately and abruptly change tasks in a composed manner.The individual in this position may be required to report to work when there is inclement weather, and the school system is closed. This decision will be at the Supervisor's discretion.

Essential Job Functions:The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing the work necessary in the respective area of expertise. Job functions include, but are not limited to:

1. Observe all safety rules. Before using equipment or tools that are unfamiliar, inquire with supervisor about training prior to use.

1. Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of all equipment or structures in workarea.

1. Help maintain an effective preventive maintenance program for areas of responsibility.

1. Works in one or more building trades (doors, locks and keys, general construction, electrical, and plumbing) to keep district owned buildings in safe and operable conditions.

1. Enter any newly purchased tools or equipment into inventory.

1. Keep work area clean and orderly.

1. Repairs furniture, floors, roofs, floor tiles, cabinets, ceilings, walls, door locks, electrical, plumbing, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the safe and efficient utilization of the buildings.

1. Responds to emergency situations, sometimes outside of their normal classification, for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.

1. Transports materials, supplies and equipment, to and from job sites to complete tasks.

1. Works outside in all weather conditions, heightsand enclosed spaces with limited access.

1. Occasionally, works overtime, including weekends.

1. Assists other personnel and trades, as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

1. Ensures that work vehicles are always cleaned and maintained properly.

1. Repair outdoor chairs, benches and assemble furniture or furnishings.

1. Perform a variety of maintenance duties or basic installations, equipment, books, installing equipment, mounting items, removal of trash, etc., at a moment's notice. Even when yard work duties are not completed.

1. Perform a variety of maintenance duties (#15) or moving furniture and miscellaneous items from various sites as directed by supervisory staff.

1. Must be able to perform job duties as described in essential functions addendum.

1. Must have the knowledge of and/or the ability to learn about occupational hazards and safety precautions.

1. Must be able to report to work on time and to perform the duties of the job for the entire workday.

The operation of the warehouse forklift is by officially trained and licensed maintenance staff only. Employeesmay be asked to obtain a forklift operator's license, at the department's expense.

Perform other duties as needed for the efficient operation of the school district.

Staff Relationship: Reports directly to the Supervisor of Maintenance

Terms of Employment:Twelve (12) months, hourly rate and benefits set annually. Non-exempt.
