ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clean and paints hydrants throughout the distribution system.
  • Assist in maintaining Water Works property grounds
  • Haul dirt, debris, and waste
  • Operate various types of tools & equipment associated with building and grounds maintenance including but not limited to: trucks, tractors, lawn mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, shovels, rakes, brooms, mops, vacuums, computer, etc.
  • Assist with installing and repairing water mains, service lines, valves, and fire hydrants
  • Aid and assist other maintenance and operations personnel
  • Load, unload, transport materials and equipment
  • Perform minor building/system repairs
  • Keeps daily log sheet; inputs computer data entry as needed
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas, tools and equipment
  • Interact with co-workers and the public with tact and diplomacy
  • Maintain a positive attitude and consistent performance
  • Manage time, make sound decisions and work independently
  • Follow directions and relay work progress in an effective manner
  • Follow safety procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as apparent or as assigned

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • No prior experience or training necessary.

  • Valid Driver's License required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment will include both working inside and working outside in various weather conditions (extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, snow, etc.). The employee frequently works in wet and/or humid conditions. The employee may work near moving mechanical parts, around fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibrations. The employee may be exposed to oils, greases, solvents, and other chemicals that may be hazardous. The employee is occasionally exposed to electric shock. Noise conditions can vary from quiet to very loud.

6:30am - 4:30pm, Monday - Thursday

Hours may vary based on departmental need.
