Position Summary:
The General Laborer supports the assembly, fabrication, and production of industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment. This entry-level position provides hands-on training in mechanical assembly, basic electrical systems, material handling, and equipment preparation. The role assists with building and assembling components from schematics and blueprints, preparing and finishing sub-assemblies, operating basic shop equipment, and maintaining a safe, organized work area. Successful candidates are dependable, mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and capable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced production setting while following all safety and quality standards.
Job Duties:
- Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems per schematics and blueprints, prior experience is an advantage.
- Layout and build mechanical sub-assemblies, including buss work, inductors, transformers, switches, etc.
- Insulate, tape, clean, and paint sub-assemblies as required. Air or water check all assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Ability to cut, machine, thread, drill, etc., on plates, shapes, bars, pipe, etc. of either metal or non-metallic materials.
- Hose and pipe all water-cooled equipment per the schematics.
- Perform minor maintenance and clean up on machines, as needed.
- Ability to move materials with hand trucks, forklift trucks, and cranes, as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while managing tools and equipment effectively. Must observe all safety regulations. May be required to perform various other functions or duties as directed by the supervisor.
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt in a manufacturing environment. Ability to work effectively in a team and demonstrate good communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Soldering or welding experience and electrical knowledge.
