POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the company in meeting its production goals by supervising all activities of employees on their assigned shift; ensures a safe and efficient work environment by communicating and managing Company established quality, production, safety and human resource policies.
MAJOR TASKS
- Supervises an assigned production and/or finish-end manufacturing process while managing staff (salaried and hourly), equipment, and materials to achieve the highest safety, quality and production levels.
- Resolves conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably.
- Maintains quality control standards to maximize company profitability and achieve customer satisfaction.
- Regularly inspects the mill for maintenance and safety problems and then reports to the appropriate staff members.
- Conducts individual meetings and leads crew meetings to communicate pertinent information to employees.
- Completes administrative paperwork and reporting related to production reports, scheduling, personnel actions, payroll and safety.
- Participates in selection process and recommends applicants for hire.
- Uses independent judgment in identifying and establishing long and short-term work goals and organizing and directing resources needed to meet these goals.
- Responsible for supporting and enforcing company policies and procedures.
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- A BA/BS degree in business administration, production management or related field preferred, but not required.
- A minimum of four years of supervisory experience, preferably in wood products or other manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of finish-end processes preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must have strong time management and decision making skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and concerns.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Leadership and motivational skills that allow candidates to achieve productivity, quality and safety goals.
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail, and ability to learn and use company specific software.
