The majority of the job duties will be related to Irrigation of hay and winter pasture farms. We use the following types of irrigation: flood, siphon tubes, and gated pipe as well as the wheel lines and pivots. Worker will assist with preparing fields for irrigation, moving water around, operating wheel lines and pivots, controlling water flows, monitoring all irrigation in progress, and shifting irrigation within properties and between properties, Workers will be asked to obtain a US Drivers License so that they are able to drive between properties in Delta and Montrose counties. In the late spring, there will be limited fencing work on our forest service permits and other properties. On occasion, the worker may be asked to assist with ranch chores and prairie dog control. Worker will assist with maintenance and storage of equipment. Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions as needed. Maintain accurate irrigation records. Worker will be required to work odd/long hours and split shifts. The job entails working around farm animals and machinery, outdoors in all types of weather (extreme heat, wind and cold) and occasional exposure to environmental hazards.
